A Multiobjective Decision-Making Model for Risk-Based Maintenance Scheduling of Railway Earthworks

Aged earthworks constitute a major proportion of European rail infrastructures, the replacement and remediation which poses serious problem. Considering scale networks involved, it is infeasible both in terms track downtime money to replace all these assets. It is, therefore, imperative develop rational means managing slope infrastructure determine best use available resources plan maintenance order criticality. To do so, necessary not just consider structural performance asset but also safety security its users, socioeconomic impact remediation/failure relative importance network. This paper addresses this by looking at planning on network level using multi-attribute utility theory (MAUT). MAUT methodology that allows one balance priorities different objectives harmonious fashion allowing for holistic ranking assets and, subsequently, investing maintenance. In situation, three attributes are considered when examining options, namely availability (the user cost), economy financial implications) reliability subsequent structure). The main showcase can be carried out proactively manner balanced against needs organization.
